Position Summary:
The Residential Drafter’s primary responsibility is to prepare, update, and maintain design and construction documents within Landsea Homes’s architectural library. The library includes design review packets, house plans, model home complex site plans, and sales offices.
Responsibilities:
- Draw rough and detailed plans to scale for buildings and structures, incorporating information from preliminary design development and feature specification sheets.
- Create floor plans, roof plans, elevations, sections, architectural details, and electrical plans to accurately depict designs.
- Operate within AutoCAD Architecture 2018 or higher to produce high quality working drawings.
- Create and update community-specific design features.
- Plot sold and spec homes on lots accurately and promptly while adhering to lot fit analysis, final plat, design review, and municipal restrictions.
- Utilize Adobe Photoshop to create rendered elevation and color scheme packets for design review.
- Compile necessary information to produce model home complex, sales, and construction office plans and submit to local agencies for approval.
- Establish procedures and instructions based on design/feature specifications and material quantity requirements.
- Under the supervision of the Plans Manager, prepare construction sets, redline sets, and technical reports for assigned projects.
- Collect and compile data to finalize architectural documents, ensuring compliance with municipal code standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to perform plan maintenance post-frame walk revisions.
- Ensure builder compliance with design specifications and advise on design corrections under Plans Manager guidance.
- Participate in various meetings including Design Development, Design Standards, and Value Engineering to contribute insights and align project goals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in drafting, architectural, or structural engineering.
- Working experience with AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop is required.
- Experience and familiarity within residential and/or production home building is preferred.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills and comfortable communicating cross-functionally with internal and external business partners.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary position. May be required to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials and supplies weighing 25 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard. This position requires public contact, as such, appropriate business apparel and professional appearance is expected.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required. A valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance is required at all times.
