Finding Hope at Hudson by Landsea Homes

Placentia, CA – At 28-years-old, Kelsey is a first time homeowner in the gated community of Hudson by Landsea Homes in Placentia, California.

Her new North Orange County townhome is close to Disneyland, Angel Stadium, glittering beaches on one side, and an easy car drive into Pasadena, Pomona, and Riverside on the other.

She loves her new oversized farmhouse kitchen sink that she delights in every time she washes dishes, and her living space – from color scheme to backsplash – was handpicked by Kelsey at the Landsea Homes Design Center. Perhaps her favorite part of the home is her pantry, which is big enough to fit all of the dry goods she needs to make her saved Pinterest recipes.

But for Kelsey, the best part of purchasing at Hudson, is how close she gets to be to the rest of her family. They have been a lifeline since the unexpected death of her husband last December.

“My husband passed away in a freak accident, and I found myself suddenly asking myself, ‘is this really happening to me.’  My family has been everything to me,” Kelsey said. “I lived with them for a while, and then my dad told me about the new community of Hudson, and it seemed like a great idea to buy my own place, but still be close to my family.”

Since her husband’s death in 2022, Kelsey has kept herself busy working two jobs, spending time with her family and finding solace in putting the personal touches on her new home.

“The house is beautiful. It has a lot of light and windows, which makes everything bright, just the way I like it. The Landsea Homes sales team has been a breath of fresh air, helping me throughout the entire process,” said Kelsey.

She purchased an 815-square-foot one-bedroom with a guest bathroom in the first level, and a primary bath in the bedroom of the second level. There’s also a study area/laundry room that creates a beautiful nook for her home office.

Placentia itself is a diverse community sandwiched between Yorba Linda and Fullerton, known for its rich history in cultivating California citrus. The city has evolved through the years with an expansive culinary scene from dumplings, tacos and tamales, a slew of breweries and a growing bicycle culture.

With homes starting at $585,000, Hudson is an ideal place for the young professionals looking to set down some roots, which is exactly what Kelsey hopes to do.

Kelsey started a podcast in her study area where she talks about the process of dealing with the grief of losing her husband – Grief and the In-Betweens and she tries to get together with friends and family often so she stays afloat amidst her grieving.

“Finding this home at Hudson has been a huge gift. I have found so much comfort in picking out new furniture, decorating the space and making it feel safe and healing. I truly feel like I’m home and it has turned out really nice,” Kelsey added.
