Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst

Finance and Accounting Analyst

Primary responsibility of this position is to provide operational and analytic support to the development acquisitions and financial management teams in addition to working within the organization to bring new communities to market. This position requires the ability to prioritize and problem‐solve while handling multiple tasks under simultaneous deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Division and Corporate Finance and Accounting teams in operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction‐processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Provide accounting and financial analysis support to all aspects of community lifecycle from acquisition, entitlements, preconstruction, construction, sales and marketing, close out and transition as necessary.
  • Interface with venture partners, development managers, and construction managers to monitor and assess project development status, schedule, and budgets.
  • Assist in all financial analyses required to support new and existing developments.
  • Assist in development and improvement of advanced project cost models and development project returns.
  • Assist in the budgeting process for new project development and current assets.
  • Assist in preparing annual business plans and quarterly business plan updates.
  • Organize and maintain department files including binders for each project.
  • Attend weekly Finance & Accounting meetings.
  • Prepare correspondence, memorandums, standard operation form reports, and other communications in an accurate and timely manner as directed.
  • Interface with technology consultant and senior leadership to implement best technology practices and further automate workflows.
  • Support corporate accounting team in management of ERP accounting and loan servicing database (add companies, loans, set up bank accounts, assign loans to staff, ).
  • Compile and review invoices draw requests for payment to contractors and subcontractors.
  • Work with corporate account payables team to ensure payments are paid in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that required debt payments are approved and processed to AP on a timely basis.
  • Work with corporate accounting to ensure that fees, overhead, and salaries and are properly charged to projects and received by the company.
  • Work with operations team to ensure project and G&A expenses are appropriately coded within the corporate chart of accounts.
  • Coordination of investor capital accounts, funds, and disbursements.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data utilizing ERP accounting system.
  • Provide timely information and reports to leadership, lenders, investors and partners as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the division’s annual business plans and quarterly updates.
  • Calculate project return metrics, including partner promote calculations.
  • Calculate and track variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Coordinate monthly updates of project costs and schedule with project teams.
  • Distribute internal financial information such as financial statements, budget variance reports, and comparisons of job margins.

Key Attributes and Qualifications:

  • Four‐year college degree: preferably in Real Estate or Finance.
  • 5 years minimum employment experience in similar roles.

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent analytical and writing skills required.
  • Advanced PC skills with Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point, and ERP Accounting System.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with strong work ethic.
  • Hands on and detail oriented individual.

None

Physical Requirements:

 This is primarily a sedentary position. May be required to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials and supplies weighing 25 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard. This position works in a general office environment with moderate noise, the office environment is busy with unscheduled interruptions. This position requires public contact, as such, appropriate business apparel and professional appearance is expected.
