Position Summary:
Landsea Homes is searching for a Director of Risk Management, who will play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across our operating divisions in California, Arizona, Texas, and Florida. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive insurance risk management strategy that safeguards our company’s assets, reputation, and overall business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive insurance risk management strategy aligned with business objectives and growth plans, encompassing proactive policies, procedures, and guidelines for risk identification and mitigation.
- Identify and analyze risktrends, formulate strategic plans, and implement risk reduction methodologies to mitigate future losses.
- Evaluate potential risk impacts, ensuring the organization is prepared for both immediate and long-term scenarios.
- Ensure the company’s risk management practices meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards related to risk management and compliance.
- Establish risk management metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation efforts.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies, such as insurance coverage, contractual provisions, and risk transfer mechanisms.
- Facilitate collaboration with legal, finance, and project management teams to ensure communication and execution of cohesive risk management strategies.
- Report risk management progress and emerging risks to executive leadership, providing guidance on risk reduction measures and recommending adjustments to business processes as needed.
- Act as a point of contact for external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, insurers, and auditors regarding risk management matters.
- Provide training and educational resources to employees, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes risk awareness and ensures all understand their role in risk management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management, preferably within the real estate, construction, or homebuilding industry.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful risk management strategies, along with demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and present to senior leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, insurance principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and quantify risks effectively.
- Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certifications are highly desired.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has supervisory responsibilities and will lead a team of people.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary position. May be required to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials and supplies weighing 25 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard. This position requires public contact, as such, appropriate business apparel and professional appearance is expected.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required. Employees will be reimbursed for using their own vehicle in the course of the job at the federal mileage rate in effect at the time.
