Are you ready to invite the holidays into your home? It’s the perfect time to explore your inner interior designer and embrace everything the season offers. So, grab a cup of hot chocolate, cozy up by the fire, and get inspired to deck the halls of your new home. Here are fun and easy ways to capture the season, set the mood, and invite the holiday spirit into your family’s home.

Decorating Your Home for the Holidays

Add Throws and Pillows

Whether you’re curling up for movie night or you need an extra layer of warmth on a cold night, throw blankets are essential to keep around. Swap out your lightweight cotton throws and pillows for thicker textures like chunky knits, faux fur, or velvet plush.

Make Your Home Smell Like Christmas

Smell plays an integral part of the season. Scented candles are a classic way to add a warm and comforting ambiance to your home. There is an abundance of candles with holiday aromas, from falling leaves and wood fires to chestnut and apple cinnamon. If you have an artificial Christmas tree and are missing out on the smell of a fresh-cut tree, consider getting a Christmas tree scented candle to fill your home will a refreshing aroma. You can also skip the candles and opt for DIY holiday potpourri on your stove. Simmer your favorite scent to make your home warm and cozy on a cold, snowy weekend.

For an easy, holiday potpourri that can simmer on the stove all day long, add cranberries, cinnamon sticks, fresh pine, vanilla bean, tangerines, pomegranate juice, and water in a medium-size saucepot. Let it simmer for four hours, let it cool overnight, and simmer it again the next day.

Invite Greenery Inside

Plants and flowers are forever entwined in holiday celebrations. From mistletoe and poinsettias to wreaths and garland, these classic plants are a surefire way to bring the holiday spirit into your home. Potted plants on your front porch can also add dramatic fall color and impact, with the blue spruce making a standout choice for container gardening.

Find Your Color Scheme

A red and green color palette is a classic holiday color combination, but there are so many beautiful and festive ways to use color when you’re decking the halls of your home. From shades of red and green to sparkling silver, gold, and champagne tones, these inspiring holiday color schemes are perfect for Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s Eve.

Set The Tone With A Centerpiece

Sometimes, a centerpiece is all you need to transform a dull room into something a bit more festive for the holidays. And if you’re hosting a holiday party this year, there’s no better way to showcase your style. Bring your guests together around a Christmas table centerpiece that captures incorporates nature with a full harvest of squash, gourds, pine cones, and seasonal leaves. These natural decor pieces are low maintenance, and they’ll last well the entire holiday season. For extra flair, add in a colorful mix of fruit, such as apples, pomegranates, and cranberries.

Warm Up Your Home With Lighting

The best Christmas lights can add cheer and brighten your holiday. Some Christmas lights are eco-friendly and solar-powered, while others have battery packs, so you don’t have to worry about hiding extension cords. One thing is for sure when you’re browsing Christmas lights – you should use LED lights this holiday season. They’re more affordable, energy-efficient, and longer-lasting.

Take the lights out to your terrace. You could even consider collaborating with a neighbor for a house-to-house string of lights. Situate lighted garland around your showcased dishes, or place a lit garland runner in the center of your table to brighten your dinner or hors d’oeuvre spread. Potted

Utilize your space by adorning the staircase, too. Line the stairs along with lanterns to help guide your way to a magical holiday season.

Switch Up Your Wall Art

Swap out your current wall decor for affordable holiday art that displays seasonal colors and subject matters. New artwork is a perfect finishing touch for your cozy holiday home.

You don’t have to go all out and completely redecorate your home over the holidays. Switching out a few of your regular home accents with warmer, softer decor will instantly cozy up your home.

Help Landsea Homes Give Back this Holiday Season

The holidays mean more than just home decor. At Landsea Homes, we take great pride in seeing our team giving back to the communities where we live and work. This holiday season, we’re humbled and honored to support the Toys for Tots and Spark of Love annual toy drives.

Several of Landsea communities have toy drop-off locations in our communities in northern California, southern California, and Arizona. We encourage anyone who is willing and able to contribute to join us by donating new, unused toys or sports equipment at any of the sites listed below. We’re also donating $2,500 for our team to purchase and donate toys to this important cause.

Toys for Tots began as a charitable effort in Los Angeles, California in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks. Bill’s wife, Diane, gave him the inspiration to start a charity when she tried to donate a homemade Raggedy Ann doll to a needy child but couldn’t find any organization to do so. In 1991, the Marine Toys for Tots Program was founded. Since then, the foundation has funded and supported the Toys for Tots Program.

Spark of Love was created around 1955 when Long Beach firefighter Murray Cohn started collecting toys for needy kids near his fire station. His fellow firefighters joined in, and his thoughtful act of giving spread and continues to this day.

For decades, these charities have helped millions of less fortunate children experience the magical spirit of the holiday season. Landsea Homes is thrilled to join them this year by helping to collect toys for kids in need.

Thank You For Your Continuous Support

As the year draws to a close, we want to thank you for choosing Landsea Homes as your place to call home. The entire Landsea team wishes you and your family a happy and joyful holiday season!
